Privacy Policy

Templar Formation ("Templar", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This page explains what data the Templar Formation iOS app collects, how it is used, and what stays on your device.

1. Data stored on your device

The app stores the following data locally on your iOS device using Apple's SwiftData framework:

• Workout logs, performance history, and personal records
• Prayer, formation, examen, and daily order completion records
• Vice study progress and knowledge quiz results
• Settings and preferences related to your training and formation plan

This local data is your primary source of truth. It is stored on your device and is subject to Apple's platform security and your device settings.

2. Data synced to our servers

When you sign in with Apple to access community features (Brotherhood), certain data is synced to Google Cloud Firestore, a cloud database operated by Google. This includes:

• Account identity: Your Firebase UID (generated by Apple Sign-In) and your chosen display name.
• Leaderboard data: Your current rank, current streak, best streak, physical perfect day count, spiritual perfect day count, and all-time XP. This data is visible to other signed-in users on the leaderboard.
• Prayer posts: If you post a petition or a "Your Why" statement on the Prayerboard, that text (up to 280 characters), your display name, and your rank are stored in Firestore and visible to all signed-in users.
• Squad membership: If you create or join a squad, your display name, rank, daily order completion status, and streak are shared with other squad members.

Community features are optional. If you never sign in with Apple, no data is sent to Firestore and the app operates entirely locally.

3. Authentication

Community features require Apple Sign-In, powered by Firebase Authentication. When you sign in:

• Apple provides a credential to the app, which is used to create a Firebase account.
• Your Firebase UID is stored locally on your device and used to identify your data in Firestore.
• Your Firebase UID is also sent to RevenueCat to link your subscription across devices.
• We do not receive or store your Apple ID email address unless Apple's relay service forwards it.

Authentication is lazy — it is only triggered when you first tap a community feature. It is never required for core app functionality (study, training, formation, examen).

4. User-generated content

The Prayerboard allows you to post petitions and a personal "Your Why" statement. Squad names are also user-created. This content is:

• Visible to all signed-in users of Templar Formation
• Associated with your display name and rank
• Subject to community moderation — other users can report content, and we may remove posts that violate our Terms of Use
• Stored in Firestore until you delete it or we remove it

Do not share sensitive personal information in prayers, "Your Why" statements, or squad names.

5. Purchases, subscriptions, and third parties

Templar Formation offers paid subscriptions using Apple In-App Purchases and RevenueCat:

• Monthly: $9.99/month (with 7-day free trial)
• Annual: $89.99/year

When you subscribe:

• Apple processes payment information and manages your App Store account, receipts, and billing history.
• RevenueCat receives purchase receipts and subscription metadata (for example: which product you bought, renewal status, and basic device / app identifiers) so that the app can correctly unlock and maintain your "Pro" entitlement.
• If you have signed in with Apple, RevenueCat links your subscription to your Firebase UID for cross-device restoration.

We do not receive or store your full payment card details.

We do not sell your personal data.

6. Analytics, advertising, and third-party services

We use third-party services to help us understand how the app is used, improve the user experience, and measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns. These partners may collect or receive data about your use of the App, including your IP address, anonymous device identifiers, and events related to your usage (such as app launches, feature usage, or purchases).

Google Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics

We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how users interact with the app. We use Firebase Crashlytics to automatically detect and report app crashes. We use Firebase Remote Config to manage app configuration.

• Data Collected: Anonymous device identifiers, app events (e.g. screen views, feature interactions), session data, and crash reports. We do not collect Apple's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) through Firebase.
• Purpose: App analytics, crash reporting, and feature configuration. Not used for advertising targeting.
• Data Controller: Google LLC. Data is processed in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.

Google Cloud Firestore

We use Firestore to store community feature data (leaderboards, prayers, squads, user profiles). Firestore is hosted by Google Cloud.

• Data Stored: Display name, rank, streaks, XP, perfect day counts, prayer posts, squad membership, and challenge progress.
• Purpose: Powering community features visible to other signed-in users.
• Data Controller: Google LLC. Data is processed in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.

Meta (Facebook) SDK

We use the Meta (Facebook) SDK to measure ad performance and attribute app installations to our advertising campaigns on Facebook and Instagram.

• Data Collected: Device identifiers, IP address, app events (such as app installs and in-app actions). If you grant permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt, the SDK may also collect your device's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA).
• Purpose: Ad attribution, analytics, and measurement for Facebook and Instagram advertising campaigns.
• Data Controller: Meta Platforms, Inc. Data is processed in accordance with Meta's Privacy Policy.
• Opt-Out: You can control this data collection via Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking on your iOS device and disabling tracking for the Templar app.

TikTok for Business

We use the TikTok Business SDK to measure ad performance and attribute app installations to our advertising campaigns.

• Data Collected: Device identifiers, IP address, usage data (events).
• Purpose: Ad attribution, analytics, and measurement.
• Opt-Out: You can control this data collection via your iOS settings by going to Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking and disabling "Allow Apps to Request to Track" or by disabling the toggle specifically for the Templar app.

RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions and purchases. RevenueCat receives purchase receipts, subscription status, and basic device identifiers to verify and maintain your subscription entitlement. For more information, see RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

Apple App Analytics

Apple provides aggregated, anonymous reporting on app usage and crashes through App Store Connect. This data is collected and processed by Apple in accordance with Apple's Privacy Policy.

7. App Tracking Transparency (ATT)

In accordance with Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework, the app will ask for your permission before any advertising SDK (Meta, TikTok) collects your IDFA or uses cross-app tracking. If you decline, those SDKs will operate in a limited mode without access to your advertising identifier. You can change your choice at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

8. Account deletion

You can delete your account from within the app at any time via Profile > Delete Account. Account deletion permanently removes:

• Your Firebase Authentication account
• All leaderboard entries
• All prayer posts and your "Your Why" statement
• Your squad memberships and challenge progress
• All local formation, workout, and progress data on your device

Account deletion is irreversible. Your Apple Sign-In credential is also revoked with Apple's servers.

Your subscription and purchase history with Apple may continue to exist in your Apple ID account and in RevenueCat for billing and entitlement purposes. Account deletion does not cancel an active subscription — you must cancel separately via your Apple ID subscription settings.

9. Data retention and deletion

If you do not use the in-app account deletion feature, your local formation and workout data are stored on your device. Deleting the app from your iOS device will delete this local data.

Data collected by third-party services (for example, Google Firebase, Meta, TikTok) may be retained by those providers in accordance with their privacy policies and retention practices.

10. Children's data

Templar Formation is intended for users aged 9 and older, in line with its App Store rating. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 9 or from children under the minimum age required by local law.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we make a material change in how we handle data, we will make a reasonable effort to let you know (for example, via an in-app notice or website update).

Your continued use of the app after any changes means you accept the updated policy.
